Are the songs easy to play?
Yes; if you can play a few of the basic open chords on the guitar, you can play 95% of these songs. As I have edited these songs, I have put them in keys that are easy for novice guitarists. These songs are also in a range that makes them easy to sing; not too high and not too low.
Here is a good example of an easy song to sing. Home On the Range uses just four chords: G, C, A7 and D7. You can use an easy strum, or a simple finger picking pattern like I do, or make it as fancy as your imagination (and fingers!) will let you.
Another great resource is the videos I have put on Youtube. Once you get your book, you can look at the videos along with the lyrics. Subscribe to my channel, bestcampfiresongs, and sing along with me.

"But I'm not a musician!"
You have a couple of options:
...If you want to learn the guitar, and you have at least a couple of weeks before your singalong, you could learn 4 or 5 chords, and be able to play several of the songs in the book.
...Or, you can find a friend that already plays, give them the music, tell them what songs you want to do, and go from there.
...Guitar accompaniment sounds great, and adds to the experience, but it is not absolutely necessary; you could sing without it.
